Cobb Director of Research and Development Attends Annual Poultry Science Association Meeting

The Poultry Science Association (PSA) held their annual scientific conference in Raleigh, North Carolina July 14th to the 17th.

At the meeting, researchers from academic institutions and industry presented their latest findings. Nearly 600 abstracts describing the research conducted were delivered as posters and presentations over the 3 day-long conference. Dr. Jesus Arango, Director of Research and Development at Cobb, delivered his presentation, “Commercial breeding for disease resistance” as part of a large symposium focused on genetics, disease and immunity in poultry. Cobb and academic partner research was also presented by students and senior scientists. A few of those presentations included:

  • Sperm mobility phenotype impact on broiler breeder sperm cell and seminal plasma proteome” conducted with partners from the University of Maryland and the USDA Agricultural Research Station, Beltsville Maryland.
  • Impact of feeding regimens during rearing on reproductive parameters in broiler breeder hens through sexual maturity” conducted with partners from the USDA Agricultural Research Station, Beltsville Maryland and Auburn University.
  • “Vaginal swab lipid profiles of high and low fertility broiler breeder hens” conducted with partners from Auburn University, the USDA Agricultural Research Station, Beltsville Maryland, and Purdue University.
  • “Lipid biomarkers associated with egg storage and early embryonic mortality in broiler breeder chickens” conducted with partners from the University of Maryland, the USDA Agricultural Research Station, Beltsville Maryland, and Purdue University.
